Before the end of 2017, I was so concerned with doing the right thing, wearing the right clothes, having the right attitude, and being who others wanted me to be. I wanted everyone's impression of me to be one of she's established, she's professional, she has the right attitude. Question what is the right look, attitude, and the right clothes? Is it what society has designed it to be? What about what God has already placed in you? I'm reminded of the commercial where the guy drops his wallet on the ground, and a black guy with dreads, big shirt, baggie pants picks up the wallet and respectfully gets the guys attention and hands him his wallet. The young man who returned his wallet didn't look like (in society's eyes) that he was the type to return the wallet but to run off with it and steals the man's identity, money and whatever else he could find use for the contents in the wallet. My hat is off to the producer of the commercial.
Question does the clothes make the person or does the attitude of the person makes the style? Hmmm, my challenge for you today - be authentically you, wear what makes you feel good, whether it's being comical, baggie sweaters, converses (all different colors), black with a splash of color, rings that are big. Be you, be who God has destined you to be, be comfortable at being you. That's why people fall in love with you, because you are different, you are unique. God placed all that goodness in you.... don't be afraid to show off you.
This is a new year, instead of making materialistic resolutions or unreachable resolutions, try making up in your mind that you are going to be true to you and be who God has purposed and burned the desire in your heart to be. Watch the doors of heaven open for you, watch the path that is set, have the things you need for the journey. For just 24 hrs. (that's one day) try it and if you like it continue to see what God has in store for you.... just a thought
from a heartstrings moment with Soul of the Heart
be blessed....and a blessing.
